Windows 10 Software Center Upgrades

Windows 10
Microsoft releases feature upgrades for Windows 10 on a semiannual schedule, one in the Spring and one in the Fall. UMKC Information Services has standardized on the Fall feature upgrade releases as they are refined versions of the Spring release and have longer support lifecycles. Information Services makes these upgrades available through the Software Center annually. You can install the upgrade at a time convenient for you before the upgrade deadline runs it automatically.

When an upgrade is ready to be installed on your computer a notification dialog will appear on your screen. There are three options for running the upgrade, allowing for maximum flexibility with your schedule. All of the options can be run on or off-campus.
If you choose defer the upgrade instead of installing immediately or outside of business hours, you will be notified weekly of the need to complete the upgrade. As the upgrade deadline nears, you will be notified more frequently.

Note: Please dedicate 1 to 2 hours of uninterruped time to complete this process. To allow the upgrade to complete successfully, please do not manually turn off or restart your computer or disconnect it from network while it is running. If you are upgrading a laptop, please plug it into power and leave the screen lid open. If you encounter issues, or would like to request a tech to do this process, please contact the IS Technology Support Center
