Network Shares on Mac

Detailed Mac Instructions

Please note: These instructions were written using specific versions of OS X.

 

Apple OS X 10.4 to 10.6
  1. If you are off-campus, you must first establish a VPN connection.
  2. Open the "Connect to Server" app from within Finder by pressing Command + K, or by navigating to the Finder menu and selecting Go.
  3. Type the name of the share you wish to connect to:
    • N:\ Drive - Type smb://kc-files1n.kc.umkc.edu/kc-users
    • Q:\ Drive -
      • For last names starting with A-M, type: smb://kc-csrv-home1.kc.umkc.edu/home$/<first letter of last name>/<username>
      • For last names starting with N-Z, type: smb://kc-csrv-home2.kc.umkc.edu/home$/<first letter of last name>/<username>
  4. Click Connect.
  5. Select the Registered User radio button.
  6. Type your SSO in the Name field.
  7. Type your SSO password in the password field.
  8. Click Connect.
  9. Your network share will mount on the desktop.


Apple OS X 10.7
  1. If you are off-campus, you must first establish a VPN connection.
  2. Open the "Connect to Server" app from within Finder by pressing Command + K,, or by navigating to the Finder menu and selecting Go.
  3. Type the name of the share you wish to connect to:
    • N:\ Drive - Type smb://kc.umkc.edu/kc-users
    • Q:\ Drive - Type smb://kc.umkc.edu/kc-users/home/[first letter of SSO]/SSO in the Server Address field. (e.g., John Doe would type smb://kc.umkc.edu/kc-users/home/d/doej)
  4. Click Connect.
  5. Select the Registered User radio button.
  6. Type your SSO in the Name field.
  7. Type your SSO password in the password field.
  8. Click Connect
  9. Your network share will mount on the desktop.
