VPN for Android

Android devices have a built-in Virtual Private Network (VPN) client that allows you to establish a secure connection to UMKC's local area network. 

Android VPN Instructions

  1. Tap Apps in the top right hand corner
  2. Tap Settings
  3. Tap Wireless & Networks or Wireless Controls
  4. Tap VPN Settings
  5. Tap Add VPN
  6. Tap Add IPsec Xauth PSK
  7. Tap VPN Name
  8. Enter UMKC-IPsec
  9. Tap OK
  10. Tap Set VPN Server or Server address
  11. Enter
  12. Tap OK
  13. Tap IPsec identifier
  14. Enter UMKC
  15. Tap IPsec pre-shared key
  16. Enter UMKC
  17. Tap Save
  18. Tap UMKC-IPsec
  19. Enter your UMKC Username and password
  20. Tap Connect
  21. Once connected, the key icon labeled 'UMKC-IPsec Connected' will be displayed in your notification area
  22. To end the connection, Tap the Key Icon in your notification area
  23. Tap “UMKC-IPsec Connection
  24. Tap "UMKC-IPsec"
  25. You will now be disconnected from the UMKC VPN.

Terms of Use

A VPN connects your device to the UMKC network. This means it is visible to the world as part of the UMKC network which exposes it to the same threats as any device on the campus. These may include attempts to gain unauthorized access to your machine. Your device's vulnerability is determined by the security settings, policies and behaviors you employ in the use and management of the device. It is your responsibility to protect your device from unauthorized access.
