Wireless Connectivity

Windows Vista


The following instructions are written to assist users with connecting to UMKCWPA or eduroam on a machine running Windows Vista.

  1. Click the Ethernet/Wireless button on the right side of the taskbar and select Connect to a network

     

  2. Step1

     

  3. The Wireless tab will open, click either UMKCWPA or eduroam and then click Connect.

     

  4. Step2

     

  5. The Additional log on information window will appear. Select Enter/select additional log on information.

     

  6. Step3

     

  7. The Enter Credentials window will prompt for your UMKC Username and Password.

     

    • Enter your UMKC Username.
    • Enter your UMKC Password.
    • Leave the Logon domain field blank and click OK.

  8. The Additional log on information window will appear again. Select Enter/select additional log on information.

  10. Another prompt will appear, enter your UMKC Username and Password.

     

    • Enter your UMKC Username.
    • Enter your UMKC Password and select OK.

     

    Step5

     

  11. When the Validate Server Certificate prompt appears, select OK.

  13. The Connecting to window will appear showing the pending connection to UMKCWPA or eduroam.

  15. The Successfully Connected window will appear. Check the Save this network and Start this connection automatically boxes and click Close.

  17. A window will appear to confirm that the network location is set to Public. Select Close to continue.

  18. Confirm that the Wireless symbol appears in the taskbar.

*Please note: For Microsoft Windows computers, you may need to visit the web site of the company that makes your wireless adapter, and get the latest wireless adapter drivers.  You must also disable any 'wireless management' programs that your adapter has, and instead let Microsoft Windows manage your wireless settings.
