Official Documents

After you are admitted to UMKC, you may be required to submit official academic records such as transcripts, mark sheets, diplomas, and degree certificates. This information explains when official documents are required and how to submit them based on your country of study.

Do I Need to Submit Official Academic Records?

Documents uploaded to your online application portal or sent by email are not considered official. Do not upload academic records again after you have been admitted.

In many cases, you can wait until after you are admitted to submit official documents. However, we reserve the right to request official documents before issuing an admission decision. We will email you if we require official documents during the application process.

Any required official documents will be listed on your application checklist after admission. We will also send you an email listing these requirements.

Enrollment holds

If we have requested documents from you, a hold will be placed on your student account that will prevent you from enrolling.

  • You will be allowed to enroll for your first semester using unofficial documents
  • You will not be able to enroll in any future semester until we receive all official final documents requested at the time of admission

Document fraud

If fraud is discovered in any documents submitted to UMKC, the university will take appropriate action, up to and including denying or revoking admission at any time, even after studies have begun.

How to Submit Official Documents

Instructions vary by country. Find your country or region in the sections that follow. If your country is not listed, follow the instructions in the General Information section.

General information (all other countries)

If your country is not listed in the sections that follow, submit official documents through our partner, IERF, using the link specifically for UMKC students.

Verification of Records for UMKC through IERF

Important notes about the IERF process:

  • Do not send documents from yourself to IERF. IERF will only accept documents directly from your school.
  • Read IERF emails carefully to understand all options for submitting documents.
  • For questions about the IERF process, use the phone number or email address provided on the IERF site.

China

If you attended high school or university in the People's Republic of China, send an English CSSD (formerly CHESICC) verification of your transcript and degree certificate to isaoadmissions@umkc.edu.

You will not be able to continue enrolling after your first semester until we receive your CSSD report. If you attended a school that CSSD cannot verify, use IERF as instructed in the General Information section.

GCSE and IGCSE

UMKC should be able to access your results directly through Cambridge Assessment.

In some cases, we cannot access your results unless you complete a third-party application through Cambridge Assessment. If this applies to you, use the following information:

  • Company/Third Party Name: UMKC International Student Affairs Office
  • Contact Name: [your name]
  • Contact Email Address: isaoadmissions@umkc.edu

India

If you attended university in India, we require complete individual mark sheets (including all backlogs) and your degree certificate.

Before you graduate

You may apply to a master's degree program with at least six semesters of your bachelor's degree mark sheets. We will request your final mark sheets and degree certificate after you graduate.

Three-year bachelor's degree programs

Email isaoadmissions@umkc.edu to verify our application and admissions requirements.

Three-year technical education programs

If you completed a three-year technical education program in place of the first year of a BTech or BE, submit individual mark sheets and your diploma from your technical program in addition to complete records from your bachelor's program.

Document formatting

Submit all individual mark sheets together as one document rather than uploading each page separately. Your degree certificate can be included with your mark sheets or as a separate document.

How to submit

When you apply, upload clear scans of your records for application review. If you are admitted, we will request verification of your complete records through one of the following services. Each service will send verified copies of your mark sheets and degree certificate to internationalprocessing@umkc.edu.

Nepal

If you have previously enrolled in any academic coursework at a higher education institution in Nepal, have all mark sheets and degrees issued by a Nepalese university certified by USEF Nepal.

Alternatively, you may submit records through IERF as instructed in the General Information section.

West African nations (the Gambia, Ghana, Nigeria, and Sierra Leone)

If you attended high school in West Africa and are applying to a bachelor's degree program, upload complete WAEC or NECO scratch card information to your online application portal using the "transcript" document type. UMKC must be able to verify results online.

If you have completed at least 24 credits at an accredited U.S. college or university, this requirement is waived.

To submit university records, use IERF as instructed in the General Information section.

Zambia

If you attended high school in Zambia and are applying to a bachelor's degree program, upload a Zambian School Certificate Examination certification to your online application portal using the "transcript" document type.

You can obtain this certification from the Examinations Council of Zambia. You must present your exam to them in person and pay a fee. If you cannot go yourself, a relative or friend may go on your behalf. UMKC must be able to verify results online.

If you have completed at least 24 credits at an accredited U.S. college or university, this requirement is waived.

To submit university records, use IERF as instructed in the General Information section.

U.S. institutions

If you studied at a U.S. institution, request transcripts to be sent to UMKC electronically. Contact the registrar's office or your academic advisor at that school if you need help.

If you studied at a language program only, you may need to request records directly from the language program instead of the registrar's office. These records can be sent by email to isaoadmissions@umkc.edu.
