Keeping Your Past:
A Basic Guide to Preserving Your Family Papers and Photographs.
Keeping Your Past is a handy illustrated 22-page guide, available for purchase from KCAA. Revised in 1999 by KCAA’s Publications Committee, the guide serves as an introduction to the basic "do's and don'ts" of preserving family documents and contains useful guidelines for preserving both papers and photographs. Included is information on the types and causes of document damage, methods of damage prevention, and measures which can be taken for documents already damaged. Also included is a list of books for further reading and information on how to contact a preservation expert if you need more assistance than the booklet can provide.
Cost of the booklet is $8.00 for members of KCAA and $12.00 for nonmembers. E-mail your order to David Boutros (BoutrosD@umkc.edu) or mail your request to the following address, enclosing a check or money order made payable to KCAA:
