College of Arts and Sciences

  • The College is the most diverse academic unit on campus, home to 18 departments that span the humanities, social sciences and natural sciences. It offers more than 73 undergraduate and graduate degree programs.
  • Because of its urban location, UMKC is well situated to study issues common to cities across the nation. Since 2009, the College has participated in 27 community projects in the heart of Kansas City through the Department of Architecture, Urban Planning + Design.
  • In the last five years, the award-winning English faculty have published 25 books and achieved impressive professional recognitions including Guggenheim, Fulbright and National Endowment for the Arts fellowships.
