School of Education

  • A national leader in culturally responsive teaching and urban education, the school prepares teachers, counselors and administrators to work with today's diverse youth. SOE students gain real-world experience, spending nearly 165,000 hours in area classrooms, agencies and internships in a typical academic year.
  • The school launched its Urban Education Research Center in 2013. The center focuses on conducting and disseminating research that addresses local problems in urban schools and communities with national applicability.
  • Alumni include John Liberto (M.A. '12) and Harrison Neal (B.A. '11), named 2012-2013 Missouri Association for Colleges of Teacher Education (MACTE) Outstanding Beginning Teachers; and Kate Tankel (B.A. '13), recognized with a prestigious Fulbright grant to study in Ecuador for a year.
