Biography

Greg joined UMKC Strategic Marketing and Communications in April 2022 as Lead Web Developer. In this role, he focuses on strengthening the university’s digital ecosystem through sustainable architecture, thoughtful governance, and user-centered development practices. With prior experience in Cascade CMS and higher education web environments, Greg supports academic units and administrative teams in improving structure, accessibility, and long-term maintainability across the UMKC website.

Prior to joining UMKC, Greg served as Senior Web Developer at his alma mater, Xavier University (Cincinnati, OH). There, he helped design and implement a foundational web framework that supported recruitment efforts and institutional messaging. The framework, launched in 2019, continued to serve as the structural backbone of the site several years later. During his time at Xavier, Greg presented at the HighEdWeb Annual Conference on topics related to digital governance and user experience, including Learning to C.O.P.E. (2016) and Searching for Direction (2015, co-presenter).

Before Xavier, Greg worked at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology (Terre Haute, IN), first as a Web Assistant and later as Web Manager. He developed custom macros for the Umbraco CMS that were published on the OurUmbraco marketplace and collectively received more than 1,300 downloads, reflecting both practical utility and community impact.

Greg began his professional career at Unique Home Solutions in Indianapolis, IN. Initially hired as an IT professional, he quickly transitioned into web marketing strategy and digital communications. In that role, he managed the company website, social media presence, and email marketing initiatives, helping shape its online engagement strategy.

Greg resides in Batesville, Indiana with his wife and three daughters. Outside of web development, he coaches both recreational and competitive high school swimming programs and earned a Master of Education in Coaching Education and Athlete Development in 2016.
