Your Next Steps

You must meet with your Academic Advisor to enroll in classes before attending Spring Orientation. We encourage you to schedule an appointment with your Academic Advisor at your earliest convenience. Contact information is available on the advising website.

2. Register for Orientation

The 2019 Spring Orientation date will be released in Fall 2018, and registration will open in November 2018. Check back for updates!

Orientation for Spring Semester takes place from 12:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. in the Student Union. Spring Orientation is not mandatory for freshmen or transfer students, but it is highly encouraged. During the program, you will:

  • Tour campus with other new students in your academic area.
  • Find out how to get involved, stay safe and be healthy at UMKC.

We encourage your family to attend Orientation. Your parents, guardians, or significant others can learn how to help you transition to life at UMKC.

3. Set yourself up for success

Prepare for your semester by completing action items on our Orientation Checklist (available Fall 2018). Important to-do's include activating your email, logging onto UMKC's Pathway tool, and completing financial documents such as the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
