Registration for Summer Orientation 2018 is open!

Transfer Orientation

We realize that being a college student isn't new to you. For this reason, you can choose the route that is best for a smooth transition to UMKC:

  • Attend an Orientation program designed with UMKC transfer students in mind. This comprehensive one-day program allows you to meet other transfer students who are new to UMKC, schedule classes with the help of Academic Advisors and faculty, explore campus facilities and resources, and take care of necessities such as reserving textbooks and posing for your student ID card.
  • Contact your Academic Advisor directly to schedule an appointment and enroll in your first semester of classes. On your own time, you can tie up loose ends such as getting your student ID.
  • Do both! Some transfer students meet individually with an Academic Advisor to enroll in classes, and attend the Orientation program for everything else.

June/July Transfer Student Orientation Dates

Summer 2018 Orientation Registration is now open!

Summer 2018 Orientation Dates

2018 Summer Transfer Orientations will take place:

- Wednesday, June 20:1:30pm-8:00pm

- Friday, July 27: 8:00am-2:30pm.

We strongly encourage transfer students with less than 24 credit hours to attend a Freshman Orientation due to the more detailed level of content that will be provided. Once an Orientation reaches capacity, it will close and not show as an option for you to register.

August Orientation

If you are unable to attend a summer Orientation program, you may be able to attend a make-up Orientation program in August. The 2018 August Orientation date will take place Tuesday, August 14. You will need to receive permission to register for this Orientation date through emailing umkcorientation@umkc.edu. We will then contact you to provide next steps. Note that academic advising will not occur during this August program; the focus is on introducing UMKC's student services. To enroll in classes, schedule an appointment with your Academic Advisor as soon as possible.

Invite the Family

We recommend that family members such as parents, guardians, or significant others — whoever supports you on your college journey — attend Orientation with you. We plan activities just for them so they will know how to help you transition smoothly to UMKC. There is a limit of 3 guests maximum per registered Orientation student.

How Much Does It Cost?

The student fee for Summer Orientation is $50.

The fee for each family member or guest is $25 per person. There is a limit of 3 guests maximum per registered Orientation student.

These nonrefundable fees support Orientation and other activities that help acclimate students to UMKC. The Office of Admissions will bill the Orientation fee(s) to a student's UMKC student account. Due to federal regulations, Orientation guest registration fees cannot be paid with federal financial aid and/or scholarships. Students must check their UMKC student account to be sure they meet all payment deadlines (if applicable).

If a student needs to make changes to their Summer Orientation registration, they can do so by logging back into the Orientation registration system. All Orientation registration changes must be made no later than 5 calendar days prior to the Orientation program. Please note: all Orientation fees are nonrefundable. Therefore, UMKC will issue no refunds if a student cancels their Orientation registration, does not attend UMKC, and/or reduces guest count.
