Traditional KC Scholars at UMKC participate in the PAL Program for their first two years of college. Please note, your KC Scholars award includes additional requirements outside the scope of the PAL Program.

PAL Program Participation Requirements

  • Year one: five PAL meetings and one event are required each semester. Visit the year one meeting requirements page for details, deadlines and descriptions.
  • Year two: three PAL meetings and one event are required each semester. Visit the year two meeting requirements page for details, deadlines and descriptions.
  • PAL events: KC Scholars should attend at least one event each semester hosted by the PAL Program or one of our partner programs.
  • Second year and beyond: KC Scholars are encouraged to pursue leadership opportunities within the PAL Program by applying to become a Peer Academic Leader or volunteering to participate in community engagement events to support and connect with KC Scholars at UMKC. Applications reopen in the middle of Fall Semester! Email us about other opportunities.
