Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor

The provost serves as the chief academic officer and senior member of the chancellor's leadership team and is responsible for implementing the University's vision. The provost also ensures academic excellence; maintains growth in external funding for research and outreach; and supports synergy among schools, academic departments, centers, institutes, and professional programs. Through collaboration with the Office of Student Affairs, Enrollment Management, and faculty colleagues, the provost is also working to expand student retention and success strategies and the development of an early alert program.

Deputy Provost for Student Success and Academic Assurance

The Deputy Provost oversees undergraduate research, student learning assessment, academic student support services (Writing Studio, Supplemental Instruction, International Center for Supplemental Instruction, Academic Tutoring), career services, academic integrity, PRO Roos (pilot work-study program), academic policy revision and development, University College and academic advising (and mentoring program),  general education, University Writing and Reading Board and oversight of undergraduate academic curricular matters.  The Deputy Provost serves to coordinate the predictive data analytics initiatives supporting student success.  Her role also involves supporting projects and initiatives implemented by the provost and the UM System as needed, including the university's strategic plan and several student success initiatives.

Interim Dean of Students

The Division of Student Affairs provides student support programs and services that enrich the student life experience. Student Affairs professionals and staff are committed to student engagement and services that contribute to students’ personal and intellectual development. The Dean of Students / Vice Provost for Student Affairs works closely with the Provost to lead the staff of Student Affairs in supporting university-level activities and academic programming that foster a culture of care and promote student learning and academic success.

Vice Provost for Faculty Affairs

The Vice Provost for Faculty Affairs provides leadership and support in all faculty-related matters including coordination and oversight of the campus-wide Promotion and Tenure process, faculty evaluation, faculty awards, faculty hiring, and new faculty orientation.  In addition, the Vice Provost for Faculty Affairs oversees faculty support and development initiatives including the Faculty Center for Excellence in Teaching (FaCET) and the Division of Instructional Design and Technology Services (IDTS).  The Vice Provost for Faculty Affairs is also responsible for ensuring compliance with all faculty-related policies, including the Standards of Faculty Conduct and the Academic Grievance Procedure.

Vice Provost for Institutional Effectiveness

The Vice Provost for Institutional Effectiveness directs the operations for the Office of Planning, Analysis and Decision Support, including but not limited to developing, implementing and managing data resources, as well as providing planning, assessment and reporting on all levels. The Vice Provost of Institutional Effectiveness leads the planning, collection, and analyses of data to assess and monitor the institution's effectiveness in achieving its mission, goals and strategic priorities. In addition, the Vice Provost for Institutional Effectiveness oversees programs for strategic planning, institutional research, data warehouse, accreditation studies, program review, evaluation of centers and institutions, assessment of student learning, record keeping, institutional accountability, and academic quality assurance.

Chief Information Officer

Information Services is responsible for supporting the academic, research and service missions of the university. UMKC IS provides campus technology support for hardware, software, server, and desktop support, call center support and web-based academic and administrative systems. The Information Services team also provides Information Technology security, networking, programming, application development, classroom AV services, an enterprise data center, phone and Internet services, and project management.

Vice Provost, International Affairs

The Vice Provost of International Affairs (VPIA) provides leadership in international academic programs and for international students.  This leadership includes overseeing the Office of International Affairs, a combination of International Students Affairs Office, which recruits, admits, and handles I-20 processing and other training for international students studying at UMKC; and International Academic Programs, which helps UMKC students and faculty with study and research abroad.  The VPIA also oversees the planning and implementation of international strategic partnerships, such as representing UMKC in the 2019 cohort of ACE International Laboratories and liaises UMKC with regional, national and international entities.  For example, the VPIA interacts with the International Relations Council of Kansas City and the Asian American Chamber of Business of Kansas City and engages with foreign embassies and emissaries, foreign university delegates, and NAFSA - Association of International Educators.

Vice Provost and Executive Director of the UMKC Innovation Center

The Vice Provost and Executive Director of the UMKC Innovation Center assists emerging and existing business owners, whether they are student, faculty or community based, by providing assistance to hone their business basics, evaluate commercialization opportunities and connect with the right resources at the right time. Specializing in technology commercialization, the Innovation Center delivers just-in-time education, counseling, and access to resources to aspiring and existing business owners resulting in increased jobs for the community it serves.

Executive Director of UMKC TalentLink

The Executive Director of UMKC TalentLink connects individuals and organizations to professional development programs and services offered by the University of Missouri, Kansas City.  TalentLink serves the region as Kansas City's talent developer, preparing today's workforce for the thriving and changing workplace of tomorrow.  The Executive Director also serves as the chief university administrator responsible for oversight of KCUR 89.3, the university's award-winning NPR station.

Chief of Staff

The Chief of Staff is responsible for managing the daily operations of the Provost Office by providing leadership, strategy and coordination of activities.  She is an integral member of the Provost's senior leadership team and works collaboratively across academic and administrative units to accomplish stated goals and objectives consistent with UMKC's strategic plan and the RooSTRONG student success model.
