Orientation Session #1

  • Miller Nichols Library, 3rd Floor, Room 325 (Complimentary Parking will be available at the library)
  • 800 E. 51st Street

    • Highlights Include:
    • Lunch and Welcome by the Provost
    • Instructor Resources and Faculty Center for Excellence in Teaching
    • Welcome by the UMKC Emeritus College
    • Tours of Volker Campus, Health Sciences Campus, and Metro KC

5:30 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.

New Faculty Meet and Greet Dinner
You and a guest are invited to attend the New Faculty Dinner Meet & Greet event hosted by Chancellor Agrawal and Provost Bichelmeyer on Thursday evening at the James C. Olson Performing Arts Center Lobby on the Volker Campus, which is located at 4949 Cherry Street, Kansas City, MO 64110.  Complimentary parking will be available.

Orientation Session #2

  • UMKC Administrative Conference Center

All Ranked Non-Tenure Track and Tenure/Tenure Track Faculty are encouraged to attend Orientation Session#2.  This session will assist you in becoming better acquainted with the expectations and operations of the University.  Throughout the day discussions are designed to focus on areas of major importance to new faculty, such as vision and values, culture of care, diversity and inclusion, Title IX and affirmative action, and faculty affairs.

  • Complimentary parking will be available on the fifth level of the UMKC Cherry Street Parking Garage located at the intersection of 50th and Oak Streets, one block north of the Administrative Center.

Attire:  Comfortable walking shoes, business casual (photo will be taken for UMKC ID Card first thing in the morning)

Benefit/HR Information and Orientation Sessions

Please note that you are encouraged to complete your employment paperwork prior to New Faculty Orientation. You should receive a request to complete employment onboarding via email with the subject of “Welcome to the University of Missouri!” If you do not receive this email within 5 days of the completion of your criminal background check, please follow up with your department’s Human Resources Facilitator (HRF). 

Once you complete the electronic paperwork requested and supply us with all requested supporting documentation, the process to create your employment record will begin. Please note that access to UMKC email, Canvas, and other online tools necessary to establish your teaching and research programs cannot occur until Human Resources receives your requested employment forms and supporting documentation.

Please plan to attend one of the following sessions (no RSVP necessary):

  • Tuesday, August 13th; 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM
  • Thursday, August 15th; 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM

Sessions will be held at the Administrative Center, Plaza Room

Complimentary parking will be available on the fifth level of the Cherry Street Parking Garage.
