Office of the
Provost

Students are the focus of everything we do, and their success is our number one priority.

Our commitment to student success shapes academic programs and campus services that ensure students find a place where they are welcomed, cared for and belong. We approach our work through the lens of the student experience to create a welcoming climate, a sense of belonging and a focus on health and wellness, resiliency and decision-making support.

Our Student Success Model is based on a vision for student success that is personalized, engaging and supportive from the moment students step onto campus until they accept their diplomas as resilient graduates who are equipped for whatever path they choose next.

Roo STRONG

We support students on the pathway to degree completion through academic initiatives that encourage progress and persistence, including counseling, supervision, peer mentoring and undergraduate research. UMKC's proactive advising, supplemental instruction, Writing Studio and Student Success Center programs provide ongoing resources for academic success. Our undergraduate research initiatives in particular provide unique opportunities for growth. At UMKC, we know that research is how we learn and learn how to learn. These hands-on, intellectual risk-taking experiences broaden students' mentoring relationships, enhance their skills and allow them to explore potential careers.
