Note: Class meets at the Kansas City Indian Center, 600 W. 39th St., Kansas City, Mo. 64111 Course Description: This course deals with a relatively recent phenomenon: televised presidential debates. Since the first such debates in 1960, they have become a fixture of American presidential elections. We will examine their significance, what they reveal about presidential candidates, and also what they may reveal about the news media in America, as well as the American electorate. This class is also a relatively new phenomenon: the course is only offered at a handful of universities. The classroom work in this course will be lecture and discussion. Regular Academic
