They exist throughout the software project lifecycle, ranging from early stage of planning to software maintenance. In this course, we will cover a number of such methods and tools. These methods include UML, structured design, design patterns, code generation, testing, and version control. The tools we are also going to learn are Microsoft Project, IBM Rational Systems Developer, Eclipse Plug-ins, Emacs, JUnit, Subversion, and GIT. Description: This course will introduce and develop the mathematical theory of networks with applications to network-driven phenomena in the Internet, search engines, network resilience, epidemiology, etc. Topics to be covered will include experimental studies of social networks, the world wide web, information and biological networks; graph theory; models of networks including random graphs, preferential attachment models, and the small-world model; and network dynamics. Requirements: Students should have studied calculus, linear algebra and an introductory course in applied probability before taking the course. Course Description: We shall cover topics for advances of parallel algorithms in recent years. Survey the research work done by researchers at Harvard, MIT, Carnegie Mellon, etc. and many other renowned work by current active researchers. Students will be lead to the front of research in parallel algorithms, and will gain hands-on experience with the design and analysis of advanced parallel algorithms. PRAM and network parallel computation models will be introduced and topics such as prefix, linked list ranking, sorting, connected components, minimum spanning trees, shortest path, integer sorting will be covered.
