Tips:
  • You must have a UMKC SSO (Single Sign-On) user name to login to the RooWriter web site.
  • We cannot account for a poor internet connection, a slow computer, or other general disruptions. Generally “try again later” is good advice.
  • We recommend Firefox as the most reliable browser for the RooWriter.
  • If you have URL access problems with the browser Safari, try clearing your cache and cookies, then close and reopen Safari.
  • If you start your 72 hour essay period BEFORE 12 noon on any Wednesday, and then within that 72 hour time period continue working on your essay AFTER 2:00 pm that same Wednesday, when you log back in to the RooWriter you must hit CTRL F5 so that any website updates/fixes uploaded during the regular RooWriter Wednesday maintenance window will take effect.
  • If you SAVED your essay work before your previous logout, then your entire essay will reappear after hitting CTRL F5. However, if you simply logged out of the RooWriter previously, then up to 2 minutes of the last words you typed may be lost, since the RooWriter only auto-saves your work every 2 minutes.
