Symposium of Undergrad. Research and Creative Scholarship

If you are an undergraduate student at UMKC and are interested in presenting your work at the Symposium of Undergraduate Research and Creative Scholarship, registration materials will be due on Monday, April 2, 2018. Tips on oral PowerPoint and poster presentations are available online, or from

Students are also encouraged to apply to the Social Justice Scholars Award. This award recognizes UMKC students who have produced exciting works of interdisciplinary scholarship and creativity within the scope of their general education curriculum that contribute to and demonstrate active commitment to promoting social justice on our campus and within our greater community. This award is presented in partnership by the Discourse Coordinator, The Chancellor’s Diversity Council, and the Division of Diversity and Inclusion.

2018 Symposium of Undergraduate Research  
Thursday, April 12
12:00p.m. to 6:00p.m.
Pierson Auditorium

Awards Ceremony: 6:00 p.m.

Judging of presentations will take place between 12:30 and 3:30. Winners in each division will receive a cash award and certificate of achievement. The 2018 Undergraduate Research Symposium will feature presentations by students in five divisions:

  1. Behavioral and Social Sciences
  2. Biological and Health Sciences
  3. Computing and Engineering
  4. Humanities and Performing Arts
  5. Physical Sciences and Mathematics

Please note the SEARCH Application is online. Students should plan to submit early so that faculty mentors and department chairs have time to provide recommendations letters and necessary signatures.

Deadline for Nominations for Undergraduate Research Day @ the Capitol.
Faculty mentors are encouraged to nominate outstanding undergraduate researchers, scholars and artists to share their work with state legislators and other stakeholders in Jefferson City in spring, 2019.
