Financial Aid and Scholarships
UMKC Financial Aid
Federal, state, and institutional aid, such as grants, loans and work-study for which you are eligible can often be applied toward a study abroad program. Confirm eligibility and amounts with the UMKC Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships.
Study Abroad and Global Engagement Award
The Study Abroad and Global Engagement (SAGE) Award supports UMKC students participating in a study abroad program. All students are eligible to apply through the Globetrotter Portal.
Gilman International Scholarship
The Gilman Scholarship is a U.S. Department of State award for undergraduate students receiving a federal Pell Grant. It provides up to $5,000 toward the cost of a credit-bearing study abroad program or internship, with additional supplemental funding available for students studying critical languages or completing STEM coursework abroad. UMKC students who apply for the Gilman Scholarship receive $500 from our office, simply for completing the application.
Major-Specific Awards
There are also scholarships reserved for students in select majors. These awards help offset program costs for students in these fields and are applied for through the Globetrotter Portal.
