UMKC Foundation Celebrates Conclusion of The Campaign for UMKC
September 23, 2016
For the last few days we have been celebrating. Actually, since we met our $250 million goal for The Campaign for UMKC last year, we have been celebrating the community’s commitment to the University’s success. But this week, as the campaign officially came to a close, we’ve raised our voices and our spirits on the Volker and Health Sciences campuses to acknowledge gifts totaling $302,531,360 that have enriched the University and our community over the last seven years.
We started where our mission started, with the students, faculty and staff of the University. Chancellor Leo E. Morton and Foundation president Steven Norris announced that we accomplished what we set out to do – and more. We set out to raise funds to further UMKC as a model research university, to empower students through scholarships, to attract and retain outstanding faculty and expand the university’s world class programs and facilities. With the launch of the Honors College and the Emeritus College, the completion of the Bloch Executive Hall, the renovation of the Spencer Theater and the commitment of the funds for the Downtown Arts Campus and the Robert W. Plaster Free Enterprise Center in place – along with a long list of other milestones – we felt secure celebrating our success.
We've had cupcakes and shaved ice with faculty, students and staff and more serious fare as we celebrated with our Board and partners. But in every setting, we've felt the infectious energy of growth and achievement. This optimism and excitement will fuel us as we move forward.
Thank you for your support of the University of Missouri – Kansas City Foundation.
