Eligibility

If you have a federal work-study award and are in any undergraduate degree program at UMKC, you are eligible to apply for Undergraduate Research (UR) Associate positions.

How to Apply

The Office of Undergraduate Research & Creative Scholarship supports students applying for these positions through the entire hiring process, which typically occurs at the beginning of each semester. Sign up for a workshop in RooGroups to learn about the process, timeline, and available projects, as well as practice the professional communication skills needed to apply and interview.

Position Details

Typically, UR Associates work between 10-15 hours a week. There are a wide variety of projects and different formats and expectations. Some may be team-based and others more independent. Some may be in a research space like a lab or office (including the Undergraduate Research office in Miller Nichols Library, Room 436), or involve community-engaged projects alongside partners throughout Kansas City.

Presenting Your Research

After each full year in the position, UR Associates present as part of the Annual Symposium of Undergraduate Research & Creative Scholarship near the end of the spring semester.
