MIDE Spotlight: Midwest Microelectronics Collective

The University of Missouri is leading the charge to bolster US competitiveness in semiconductor R&D, workforce development, and manufacturing initiatives. Focusing on a domestic, regional, semiconductor supply chain and partnership, invitees of the Kansas and Missouri Chambers of Commerce recently met to discuss how they can be a part of the Midwest Microelectronics Collective movement.

Question: What is the MMC purpose?

Answer: The Midwest Microelectronics Collective (MMC) is an initiative whose primary aim is to supply the prime-tier microelectronics manufacturing industry with innovation, materiel, and workforce development initiatives.

Answer: Equipment, apparatus, and supplies used by an organization or institution.

Question: Why does the MMC matter?

Answer: The MMC will become a regional-scale, technology-driven innovation ecosystem to accelerate emerging technologies, drive economic growth, and maintain US competitiveness. The MMC is a partnership forged by institutions of higher education, mid-tier manufacturers, small businesses, local government, trades workforce, and state government that is driven by a sustainable and trusted microelectronics and its supporting markets for supply to meet the existing and future demand.
