What is a transcript and why do I need it? We can help you out with ordering official transcripts!

Transcripts are the only official report of a student's complete academic record. Official transcripts can also be requested to be sent electronically.

Current or former students who have a valid email and a major credit or debit card can order transcripts through the National Student Clearinghouse using the UMKC Transcript Ordering Center.

Current or former students who do not have an email address or do not have a credit or debit card must come to UMKC Central to order their transcript.

More transcript information

Electronic transcripts are sent in 24 hours or sooner when requested, M-F 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. Otherwise they are sent the next business day. 

Transcripts can be mailed by standard U.S. Postal Service first-class delivery. Transcripts requested to be mailed are sent within three working days following receipt of the transcript request but frequently are mailed the day after receipt.  Shipping and handling fees will be applied.

Transcripts can be ordered as "hold for pickup" and will be printed for pick up in the Registration & Records Office after showing a valid photo ID.

Transcripts can be sent Express by Fed-Ex for an additional $27-$60 per address, based on the country of delivery. Shipping and handling fees will be applied.

With each delivery option, care will be taken to protect against the release of information to parties other than those authorized by the student, but UMKC assumes no responsibility for the accidental release of information to unauthorized persons.

Track your transcript order

Transcripts include the following information:

  • Courses, credit hours, official grades
  • Transfer credit and test credit
  • Term and cumulative GPA
  • Dean’s list designations
  • Teaching certifications earned
  • Thesis/dissertation titles
  • Degrees earned
  • Latin honors

Entrance test scores, academic standing (probation status), disciplinary action, extracurricular activities, student personal information (ethnicity, address, gender, etc.) do not appear on official transcripts.

No transcript may be issued to or for students who are indebted to the university until the debt has been cleared. Exceptions may be made by the Cashiers Office. Please refer to the Transcript Request Exceptions policy located on the Cashiers Website.

You can request a transcript at any time. You have the option of completing a transcript request and indicating that you don't want the transcript sent until the current semester grades or degrees will appear on the transcript, OR you can have a transcript sent immediately. 

Final grades and GPA information is not guaranteed to be available on transcripts until approximately one week after the conclusion of finals. Degrees earned are not guaranteed to be available on transcripts until approximately 40 days after the conclusion of finals.
