Students

We create a consistent, equitable experience for students by delivering exceptional, personalized support that helps them feel confident, cared for, and connected during their academic journeys.

Get the Support You Need

To get the most out of your advising experience, be sure to make time to explore and clarify goals for your major and career, become familiar with the different UMKC webpages and portals, and arrive to advising appointments with questions and topics for discussion.

Advising Services

Academic advisors can help you achieve your personal and career goals by:

  • Mapping out a plan to graduation
  • Building class schedules
  • Connecting you to campus resources
  • Understanding holds, deadlines and policies
  • Choosing a major or minor
  • Navigating technology

Meeting With Your Advisor

UMKC Connect is the preferred way to schedule an advising appointment. Alternatively, you can also call our front desk at 816-235-1148. We encourage you to schedule enrollment appointments early in the semester to develop or review your academic plan. Scheduling early ensures appointment availability and prevents enrollment delays.

Drop-In Hours

Roo Advising also offers drop-in hours Monday through Thursday. While we encourage you to stop by with questions for your advisor, drop-ins are meant for quick meetings only. Enrollment, change of major or GPA policy discussions require an appointment.
