LGBTQIA+ Student Organizations

LGBTQIA+ student organizations reflect the interests of UMKC students. Find a club that fits your interests or start one of your own. We're here to support you.

UMKC LGBTQIA+ Student Organizations

Across our two campuses, we are proud to host six different LGBTQIA-related registered student organizations. These organizations exist across a number of professional programs, identities, and ideas so there are plenty of opportunities to find your community and connection. If you don't see yourself reflected in these student organizations, don't worry, there's opportunities to create your own student group as well!

Sexuality and Gender Alliance Council (SAGA)

A platform for LGBTQIA+ student organizations to collaborate to meet each organization’s objectives and foster a sense of community among students at UMKC. The group's mission is to foster an environment of respect and appreciation around issues of diversity, including but not limited to race, gender, ethnicity, social justice, sexual orientation and gender identity and expression.

Support for LGBTQIA students within the UMKC schools of Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, Dentistry and Health Science, as well as services to create a more open and inclusive LGBTQIA-friendly campus. In addition, the mission of the LGBTQIA Health Alliance is to improve health care for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender patients. We work toward this goal by educating medical, dental, nursing, pharmacy and health science students on health disparities in this population and the factors that may affect their access to care and quality of care. All health sciences programs are represented.

Don't See Yourself Reflected Here?

While these six student organizations span a wide breadth of the University, it's possible that you don't see your interests and professional goals here. If that's the case, don't worry! Visit our office in-person or email us to discuss what it would look like to start a student organization of your own that reflects your interests, goals, and values. We are excited to see what you'll dream up next, and ready to help you get there.
