• If you see something, say something! If you observe suspicious activity on campus, immediately contact the UMKC Police Department at 816-235-1515.

  • Be aware of your surroundings by keeping your eyes up and looking around. If you feel uneasy about someone, or you are at risk, leave that situation quickly. If possible, join a group of people nearby.

  • When approaching your vehicle, have your keys in hand, ready to unlock the door. If using a key fob, do not open your doors until you reach your vehicle. As you approach your vehicle, scan the exterior and surrounding area, as well as the interior for possible threats.

  • Keep your vehicle secure when not in use.

  • Once you are inside your vehicle, lock the doors and keep all windows up.

  • Keep purchases and valuables out of sight. A locked trunk is the best option.

  • Beware of scams, whether in person, on the phone, or online. If any deal sounds too good to be true, it is probably a scam. Never provide personal information to anyone you do not know and trust.

  • When checking gift card balances, only use the website or phone number printed on the card itself. Do not search the internet for the contact information.

  • Consider a package delivery storage container for home deliveries.
