UMKC Math Placement Qualifications

To take higher-level mathematics and statistics courses at UMKC, you must qualify in one of three ways.

Credit or minimum grade

Credit or minimum grade for the prerequisite math or stat course taken at UMKC

Transfer credit

Transfer credit for a prerequisite course

  • AP
  • IB
  • Dual credit

Minimum placement score on ACT or math placement tests

Math Placement determines your level of preparation for college-level mathematics and statistics courses offered at UMKC. You may register for certain math and stat courses only by having credit from a prerequisite course or placement score on the ACT or math placement test.

You can qualify to take Mathematics and Statistics courses at UMKC by taking placement tests offered by MyMathTest on Canvas. The tests are free of charge, and you can take them as many times as you like.
