RooMentum Pathways is a new dual degree 2+2 transfer program where students who complete an associate degree at an area Metropolitan Community College can transfer seamlessly to UMKC for an additional two years to complete a bachelor’s degree.

You must be an existing student at Metropolitan Community College (MCC) in good standing with at least one year remaining at MCC and overall grade point average of 2.25 or higher.

Exceptions to this GPA requirement:

  • School of Science and Engineering, (review of transcripts proving successful completion of math, science, engineering and computer science courses)

The following majors are not eligible for RooMentum Pathways: Dental Hygiene, Medicine (BA/MD), Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Architecture and all Conservatory majors.



Scholarship opportunities for U.S. citizens or permanent residents enrolled full-time at UMKC (12+ credit hours) include:

  • $2,500 merit-based Provost Transfer Award regardless of GPA
  • $3,500 merit-based Chancellor's Transfer Award for students who transfer with a 3.5 GPA

MCC students can save more money by fully utilizing A+ Scholarship Program and potentially receiving an automatic scholarship.

Additional support

Students who enroll in the program will have access to student and academic support services at both their community college and at UMKC.

RooMentum Pathways students will also be invited to attend UMKC events and receive UMKC e-newsletters.

Lock in your degree

Your catalog year will be retained at UMKC to ensure you are locked into the current degree requirements at the time of your application as a RooMentum Pathways student.

How to apply

Existing students at MCC can easily apply for RooMentum.

  1. Complete the free Transfer Application and select RooMentum Pathways when completing the application.
  2. Select the major you are interested in completing at UMKC
  3. Provide a copy of all college transcripts - including MCC and any other colleges you may have attended. 
After applying you will be notified by the UMKC Office of Admissions regarding your acceptance into the program.

Plan your path

As a RooMentum Pathways student you will have access to our advising tools that include UMKC Connect and Plan My Degree.

A UMKC advisor will help connect you with an academic advisor through Roo Advising. Plan My Degree serves as our degree audit and degree planner tool to help guide you. Your transcripts will then be loaded into Pathway, our student information system, which will let you track your progress on completing courses at MCC that transfer and are accepted toward the major you are pursuing at UMKC.

During your final community college term, work with your MCC advisor to complete a RooMentum Pathways transfer application and be fully admitted as a UMKC degree-seeking student.

How do I opt out of the program?
Should you find this is not the right program for you, simply email Admissions or talk with your academic advisor at MCC.
