Community Food Assistance
Food insecurity is the state of being without reliable access to a sufficient quantity of affordable, nutritious food. There are resources at UMKC and in the community to support you if you are experiencing food insecurity.
- Meal Plan Options – Sodexo, the food services company, offers resident and commuter plans for students, as well as a faculty and staff plan, for on-campus dining at various locations.
- Swipe Out Hunger – Meal plan meals donated to students by other students.
- Harvesters – Local food bank that distributes food and resources to a network of more than 760 partner agencies and programs such as food pantries, kitchens, emergency shelters and day programs. Use the food locator to find a pantry, kitchen or food pickup near you.
- Meals for Kids – Harvesters provides a list of community programs who offer meals for children under 18.
- Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) – Government-funded program providing benefits to qualified persons to purchase food.
