UMKC often expands our scholarship offerings and other funding for students to make attending here more affordable for everyone.

Bloch Family Scholarships

UMKC, the University of Missouri System, the Marion and Henry Bloch Family Foundation and the H&R Block Foundation are pleased to announce three new scholarships for UMKC students. These three scholarships expand on existing scholarships and add brand new opportunities for students to access funding to attend UMKC.

Henry W. Bloch Scholars

The Henry W. Bloch Scholars/Promise and Opportunity program supports underserved, promising students living in urban environments in greater Kansas City. Students must meet the following qualifications to be considered for this program:

  • Demonstrate financial need (Pell and near Pell)
  • Plan to earn a four-year degree
  • Be exempt from traditional scholarship programs due to past academic performance and/or life circumstances

This scholarship will be available to all admitted first-time or transfer students and covers tuition and fees each year for up to five years.

Marion H. Bloch Scholars

The Marion H. Bloch Scholars/Next Generation Merit program supports underserved, higher performing students living in urban environments in greater Kansas City. Admitted students must meet the following qualifications to be considered for this program:

  • An ACT score of 29
  • A core GPA of 3.6 or above
  • Demonstrated leadership and/or community engagement activities

Students with slightly lower ACT scores who are Pell or near Pell eligible will be considered for this scholarship. This scholarship will cover tuition and fees each year for up to five years.

Launchpad Scholars

The Bloch Launchpad program provides scholarships along with professional development opportunities and student engagement activities. Students participating in the Launchpad Scholars program are required to build a professional development portfolio by obtaining professional experience with employers throughout the region. First-time freshmen and transfer students majoring in business or accounting are eligible to apply for this program.
