Residential Life Staff Positions

Residential Life Coordinator

The full-time, live-in Residential Life Coordinator (RLC) manages the administrative components of a hall or apartment complex. In addition to supervising student staff, they are responsible for programming implementation, crisis management and adjudication for policy violations. Any openings for this bachelor’s-required, master’s-preferred position will be posted through UMKC’s HR website.

Assistant Residential Life Coordinator

The part-time, live-in Assistant Residential Life Coordinator (ARLC) is a graduate position responsible for assisting the full-time coordinator in managing the administrative components of a hall or apartment complex. The ARLC advises a hall council, coordinates learning intitiatives, and manages programming, among other tasks. Resident Assistant

The resident assistant (RA) is a live-in student staff member who has administrative and programming responsibilities for a wing or building section of students. After an extensive training process, the RAs are expected to handle issues pertaining to crisis management, confrontation, mediation and general student well-being. Desk Manager

The Desk Manager (DM) is a live-in student staff member who has supervisory & administrative responsibilities for the front desk operations of a residential life building that employs student workers called Desk Attendants (DAs). The DMs receive an extensive training process, to help them learn how to manage and supervise a team of DAs. The DMs oversee a large operation for each building, such as mail & packages for residents, customer service, Building safety, & desk schedules for the DAs. Any openings for this position will be posted throughout campus and on our website and other social media outlets. For more information, please see position description for

Student Staff Selection

The 2022-2023 academic year student staff selection process is underway. Applications for both the Desk Manager position and the Resident Assistant position will be live on November 29th, 2021 and will close on February 1st, 2022. Students should apply through RooRez and select "Student Staff Application" to start the process

Residential Life staff are required to maintain a GPA of 2.5 or higher and full-time student status. A resume, cover letter and two letters of recommendation are required.
