About UMKC Tutoring
UMKC Tutoring is a CRLA certified program that offers free one-on-one tutoring to UMKC students for many courses from a variety of subjects. Our peer tutors can help them understand important concepts, figure out the best way for them to study and more. Our services are available by appointment or drop-ins.

Academic Support Newsletter
The Scholaroo Newsletter is a quarterly newsletter used to highlight academic support (SI, Tutoring, Writing Studio) under the department of Academic Support and Mentoring here at UMKC. Past editions (Fall 2025 and prior) can be viewed on Canva. Current and future editions can be viewed on Outlook Newsletters.
Encouraging Students to Attend
There are several ways faculty can encourage their students to use our service.

- Share our Virtual Class Visits page with your students.
Help Us Enhance Our Program
Share your syllabus with us each semester so our tutors can better prepare for tutoring sessions. (Google login required)
Submit referrals for SI Leader/Tutor candidates to aid us in hiring the highest caliber tutor candidates. You can submit up to 5 candidates per form. (Google login required)
Job Description
UMKC Tutors are strong UMKC students with at least a 3.0 overall GPA and B+ or better in the courses they tutor. They are dedicated to guiding each student through difficult material, from understanding big concepts to developing learning strategies and tools to help students retain information and solve problems on their own. Our tutors gain leadership, organization and critical thinking skills, as well as hone their academic knowledge base and skills. Additionally, they form close relationships with faculty, UMKC staff and fellow students. Tutors work 5-8 hours per week with pay starting at $12.30 per hour.
