The coronavirus crisis has brought into sharp focus a long-standing issue for UMKC. In recent years, the campus financial landscape has been one of tight budgets, narrow margins and low reserves. In this time of crisis, UMKC has an opportunity to fundamentally reimagine its mission as a public research university serving the Greater Kansas City metropolitan area and beyond.

Master Plan

A Master Plan is a comprehensive, long-range vision and roadmap for the physical environment and future development on campus as resources become available. The plan will be designed to support the university’s goals, the role it plays in Kansas City’s future and the needs and desires of our valued neighbors.

Food Security 

Research has shown that many of our students struggle with food insecurity and lack of access to meet other basic needs. Through the work of the Food Security Advisory Committee, the university identified key areas of addressing and providing avenues to address basic needs insecurities at UMKC.

Professional Career Escalators

UMKC Professional Career Escalators offer applied learning opportunities and a cohort-based experience for students interested in careers related to one of four tracks: health care, education, business/engineering or law and justice.
