Accessible Parking Options
Accessible Parking for Students and Employees
- To park in designated accessible spaces, you must display both your UMKC accessible permit and your state-issued plate or placard.
- If you have a UMKC accessible permit but not a state-issued disability plate or placard, you may park in any student and faculty/staff regular permit areas.
Accessible Parking for Campus Visitors
- Visitors with a state-issued disability plate or placard and a UMKC accessible permit can park in the accessible or regular spaces in both the student and faculty/staff permit areas.
- No permit? No problem! Short-term accessible parking is available without a permit in metered areas. UMKC also offers two ways to obtain an accessible permit.
How to Obtain a UMKC Accessible Permit
There are two options to receive the UMKC accessible parking permit.
Option one: submit a physician's statement of need
The statement must include:
- The need for accessible parking
- The time period the accommodation is needed
This permit allows you to park in faculty/staff and student permit areas, but not in specially designated accessible spaces.
Option two: submit proof of ownership of a disabled license plate or placard
A copy of the paid receipt or proof that the state-issued plate or placard belongs to you is required. This must be registered with the Parking Operations Office.
To park in designated accessible spaces, you must display both your UMKC accessible permit and your state-issued plate or placard.
