*All personal trainers must be hired by UMKC. Outside personal trainers are not allowed.

Personal Training Resources

RooFit Policies

Please be aware of our three-strike no-show policy. Per this policy, if you sign up but do not attend any 3 RooFit classes, you will be blocked from registering for RooFit classes for a period of two weeks. To avoid this, you must arrive on time or cancel at least 45 minutes prior to the start of class. This policy is in place to respect our instructors' time and the limited spots for our participants. We understand that mistakes happen, but we do hope that you will make every effort to make it to class. Thank you. 

RooFit Classes are programmed and offered for a group setting. For the safety of our instructors and participants, as well as the integrity of our class offerings, we require a two-person minimum in all RooFit classes. If less than two people have registered for a class by 45 minutes before the start time, the class will be cancelled. You will be notified via email. If there are two or more people registered but at the start of class time the minimum is not met, class will be changed to a virtual class in Studio A. Your instructor can help you set that up.

Health Intake Form

We require you to fill out a form prior to training to ensure your health and safety needs are met. In some cases, we may ask that you present us with a medical release from your doctor. This form will also ask about your preferences concerning the type of training you are looking for. The more specific you are, the more we can accomodate.  

External Trainers

Personal trainers practicing at the Swinney Center must be employed by UMKC Campus Recreation. External trainers (i.e. anyone charging a fee for personal training) are not allowed to operate in our facilities. We ask that you respect this policy to protect yourself and fellow members.
