The Office of Admissions and UMKC Central will be relocating to their new offices in Atterbury Student Success Center from July 27 to August 14. The type of student you are will determine how you apply and your eligibility for scholarships and grants. Learn the difference between being a transfer student and an adult learner:
Am I a Transfer Student?
If you received a high school diploma or high school equivalency certificate and have attempted or completed coursework during a regular session at another college, no matter how many credits you will be transferring to UMKC, you are considered a transfer student. The number of credits you transfer determines which transcripts you submit with your application and if you can be considered for automatic scholarships:
- If you are transferring fewer than 24 college credits, you must submit both your high school and college transcripts. With fewer than 24 college credits, you are not eligible for automatic scholarships.
- If you are transferring 24 or more college credits, you do not need to submit your high school transcripts. Transfer students with a minimum 2.25 GPA who apply by the priority deadline will be considered for our automatic scholarships for transfer students.
Am I an Adult Learner?
If you received a high school diploma or high school equivalency certificate and are applying for an undergraduate, graduate or professional degree from UMKC, regardless of having attempted or completed coursework during a regular session at another college, and one or more of these descriptors applies to you, then you're an adult learner:
- Are at least 25 years old
- Have parental or other caregiving responsibilities
- Are transitioning into civilian life from the military
- Are pivoting from a current career or taking it to the next level
