Roo Welcome is a time for our new and returning students to build relationships with faculty and staff who are dedicated to helping them succeed.
All UMKC faculty and staff serve a vital role in the Roo Welcome experience. UMKC faculty and staff are essential in creating a positive and welcoming experience for our new campus community members.
Fall Roo Welcome 2023 takes place August 18-September 8.
How You Can Help
This year, we are providing even more ways for faculty and staff to support Roo Welcome. Here's how you can help:
- Save the Date for Convocation, taking place August 19 in Swinney Center. Convocation is our UMKC official welcome for our new students. You will have a special role in this ceremony and have opportunities to meet students.
- Staff a signature Roo Welcome event. Sign-ups will take place in July and August for Fall Roo Welcome. Roles include:
- Residential Life move-In support
- Parent and Family Lounge minglers
- Late Night with the Greeks staffing
- Convocation staffing and participation
- Unionfest support and office/department tabling
- Welcome Table staffing
- Encourage your office/department to plan a Roo Welcome event during the first three weeks of the semester. Submit your event to RooGroups by July 31.
- Wear UMKC gear during the first weeks of school.
