Art of Grantsmanship

Top off your grants skills and learn about applying for grants at UMKC

About Arts of Grantsmanship

Art of Grantsmanship (AOG) is 8-week, asynchronous online workshop that focuses on all aspects of grants from locating requests for proposals to theories of change to writing engaging proposals. Through an asynchronous Canvas course, faculty spend approximately one hour each week connecting with each other, reading articles, trying a variety of resources, and watching videos of experienced scholars here at UMKC and nationally. AOG is a good way to meet other faculty who share your research interests.

Details

  • Faculty completing the microcredential will earn a $500 stipend. Faculty participating in AOG will be invited in October to submit a four (4) page proposal for a small grant of up to $4,000. The competition for the small grant is independent of the stipend: faculty do not need to apply for the small grant to complete the microcredential and earn the stipend.
  • Scheduled for the fall only, the workshop launched on Tuesday 5 September 2023 and will close Friday 10 November. Check back next year to apply for the Fall 2024 series.

Note for New Faculty and Researchers

As new tenure track, tenured, and nontenure track research faculty, you are invited to participate in Supporting Our Academic Researchers, or SOAR. The entry point for connecting with SOAR programming is Art of Grantsmanship (AOG). This program is designed specifically for UMKC research faculty and includes information not only about grants in general, but also about applying for grants at UMKC. Participating in AOG will help you jumpstart your research at UMKC.
