Check-in Session

Now that you've been admitted and have made plans to attend UMKC as an F-1 or J-1 visa holder, you will need to register for a check-in session before you can enroll in classes.

You're almost ready. First, you have to register for a mandatory check-in session.

Attending a check-in session is a required part of maintaining your F-1 or J-1 visa status in the United States. During the session we will talk to you about the rules of your visa and attendance at UMKC.

Check-In Session Pre-registration

Please note:
  • You must have obtained your visa in order to pre-register for a check-in session.
  • You may upload a copy of your visa to your application status page at any time, or you will have the option to upload it as part of the check-in pre-registration process.
  • Check-in sessions are not held virtually - you must be present in Kansas City to attend your check-in session. Please select a check-in date that is after your planned arrival to Kansas City.

Get ready for your session

Pre-registering for a session is just the first step. You must attend your registered session in person. Sessions are usually an hour and a half in length.

Plan to arrive at least 15 minutes before your session's scheduled start. Once the session has begun, latecomers will not be admitted and will need to reschedule for another date.
