Tuition Discounts

You may qualify for a tuition discount based on where you live, if you or a family member served in the military or if you are at least 65 years of age.

Graduate Metro Rate

Residents of these counties in Kansas are eligible for the same rate as Missouri residents through the Graduate Metro Rate: Atchison, Douglas, Franklin, Jackson, Jefferson, Johnson, Leavenworth, Miami, Osage, Shawnee and Wyandotte.

Professional programs in dentistry, law, medicine and pharmacy do not qualify for the Graduate Metro Rate.

Midwest Student Exchange Program

Through the Midwest Student Exchange Program (MSEP), UMKC agrees to charge students no more than 150% of the in-state resident tuition rate for select graduate programs.

Professional programs in dentistry, law, pharmacy and certain programs in medicine do not qualify for the MSEP rate.

Your program's tuition rate does not include program fees, including the Student Life fee, graduate and professional program fees or optional charges, such as housing, bookstore and parking.  View fees

Whether by credit hour of as a flat rate, rates are assessed per semester.

  • Missouri resident and Graduate Metro Rate: $488.00

Dentistry

Doctor of Dental Surgery

Flat rate 16 hours:

  • Missouri resident: $20,742.00
  • Nonresident: $41,051.00

There is an additional instruction fee for students based on cohort.

Advanced Education in General Dentistry (general dentistry, endodontics, periodontics and orthodontics)

Per hour up to 14 hours:

  • Missouri resident: $1,366.43
  • Nonresident: $2,706.86

These programs are assessed an additional instruction fee.

Law

J.D. program

Per credit hour:

  • Missouri resident: $720.00
  • Nonresident: $920.00

LL.M. program

Per credit hour:

  • Missouri resident: $874.00
  • Nonresident: $1,792.00

Years 1-2

Flat rate 16 hours:

Anesthesiology

Flat rate 18 hours:

  • Missouri resident: $14,568.00
  • Nonresident: $17,321.00

Physician assistant

Flat rate 18 hours:

Nursing and Health Studies

Per credit hour:

  • Online graduate degree programs (regardless of state of residence): $707.00

Pharmacy

Flat rate 15 hours:

  • Missouri resident: $14,708.00
  • *U.S. citizen or permanent resident not residing in Missouri: $16,438.40 tuition
  • International resident: $32,012.00

*Newly enrolled nonresidents who are a U.S. citizen or permanent resident receive a renewable nonresident award (PDF), which provides a 90% reduction in the differential between resident and nonresident tuition, for the Fall and Spring semesters.

In the event of a discrepancy between a listed program rate and the rate approved by the UM Board of Curators, the rate approved by the board applies.
