Undergraduate students

Because the only thing keeping us apart is a state line, we offer undergraduate students who are legal residents of the State of Kansas the same tuition as our Missouri residents. Welcome to the in-crowd!

Students who enroll in the School of Dentistry, School of Law, School of Medicine and School of Pharmacy don't qualify for the Kansas Rate.

Graduate students

Graduate student residents of Atchison, Douglas, Franklin, Jackson, Jefferson, Johnson, Leavenworth, Miami, Osage, Shawnee, and Wyandotte counties in Kansas are eligible for the Graduate Metro Rate which is the same as a Missouri resident graduate student.

Students enrolled at the School of Dentistry, School of Law, School of Medicine, and School of Pharmacy are not eligible for the Graduate Metro Rate or the Midwest Student Exchange Rate. Some School of Medicine Programs are eligible for the Midwest Student Exchange Program rate.

The Heartland Rate is available to legal residents of Arkansas, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas and Wisconsin.

Graduate students and students enrolled in the School of Dentistry, School of Law, School of Medicine and School of Pharmacy students are not eligible.

The Midwest Student Exchange Program, or MSEP, is a multi-state tuition reciprocity program. Through the MSEP, public institutions agree to charge students no more than 150% of the in-state resident tuition rate for specific programs.

Military Personnel

Discover Employee Discounts

The spouse and dependent children of an eligible employee can receive a 50% reduction of educational fees for up to 140 hours of University of Missouri college credit courses per spouse or dependent child.

The rate for all courses (undergraduate, graduate or professional) will be based on the resident portion of the educational fee charged to the student. The reduction will not exceed 50% per student.

Missouri Seniors Program

Senior citizens who reside in the state of Missouri may qualify for
the Missouri Seniors Program. You will not be required to pay an
application fee or submit transcripts. You will not be assessed
UMKC tuition and ancillary fees. However, you will be charged a
registration fee of $25.00 and any related supplemental class
fees.

You must be:

At least 65 years of age or older
A legal resident of the state of Missouri
You wish to audit a class
